  • Newer law has been passed "In May of 2023 civil rights protections for LGBTQ people were added to Michigans state constitution through senate bill 4. This added protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity."
  • Newer law has been passed "On March 16, 2023 Public Act #6 (Senate bill #4) was signed into law. This act amended the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act of 1976 to reaffirm legal protections for sexual orientation and expand coverage to include gender identity and expression. This amendment bars discrimination in housing, employment, education, and public accommodation. This mean LGBT discrimination is illegal in Michigan. Text of the bill is available here: https://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/2023-2024/publicact/pdf/2023-PA-0006.pdf"
  • Newer law has been passed "Michigan passed an expansion to the Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act in March 2023. Sexual orientation and gender identity are now protected classes."
