- Newer law has been passed "On March 16, 2023 Public Act #6 (Senate bill #4) was signed into law. This act amended the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act of 1976 to reaffirm legal protections for sexual orientation and expand coverage to include gender identity and expression. This amendment bars discrimination in housing, employment, education, and public accommodation. This mean LGBT discrimination is illegal in Michigan.
