edited by Markissik. The reason I'm changing the status is because the listed source doesn't have any mention of legality of gender change in Burkina Faso. Moreover, in the article it is reported that many transgender people had been persecuted due to inconsistency between their physical appearance and ID cards which may be interpreted as a sign of the lack of gender recognition by law.
