In 2017, the Yucatan Congress rejected a project to give the green light to gay marriage; this despite the fact that 57% of Yucatecans approve it, according to INEGI. In the country, men, with few studies and coming from the states of Chiapas, Tabasco and Campeche, are the most reluctant to accept same-sex marriage.
