DescriptionGender-affirming care in Thailand is legal. Since the first gender-affirming surgery was performed in 1975, trans people across the world have often gone to Thailand for such care as it is highly affordable compared to most of the world, making it the number one country in sex reassignment surgeries performed. Children are also granted hormone treatment with parental permission. In January 2025, the government also announced that it will invest 145 million baht into gender affirming care.
