Description | The Sharia Penal Code Law 2001 took effect in Gombe on November 23rd, 2001. Within the Penal Code, consensual same-sex sexual activity is punished with caning of one hundred lashes if unmarried, and the offender shall also be liable to imprisonment for the term of one year. If the offender is married they shall be punished with stoning to death (rajm). |
