- Status is not correct "Status should be “requires medical diagnosis” as while the laws don’t state surgery is required, an affidavit from your physician is required to be submitted to the Department of Health and Human Resources. This also began in October 2022.
Between June 2020 and then, West Virginia denied court orders to change one’s gender markers on their birth certificate, which was required for recognition, making it either illegal or ambiguous as sources also state they’d just cross it out between then.
