Reports (3)
  • Other "Although the ministry of health banned conversation therapy done by medical professionals recognised by the country (doctors, psychotherapists, social workers etc) conversation therapy is still allowed to be done privately by non medical professionals such as religious figures "
  • Other "Status is inaccurate. Conversion "therapy" is banned for health-care professionals (physicians, and psychologists) but is still allowed for non-professionals (mostly priests). An law banning all conversion "therapy" failed to pass in recent days. reference: https://www.stop-hamara.co.il/law "
  • Status is not correct "there has never been a law banning conversion therapy. the only legal note on the matter is a warning from the ministry of health, but it doesn't have any legal weight."

Reports (7)
  • Date is incorrect "The bill to ban conversion therapies was not passed in 2020, but in 2021, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz of the "Meretz" party forbade the provision of conversion therapies. The ban applies only to qualified therapists (psychologists, social workers and therapists licensed by the Israeli Ministry of Health) but does not bind rabbis, clergy or alternative therapists."
  • Status is not correct "It is discouraged but not banned."
  • Status is not correct "Conversion therapy are not banned in Israel"
  • Status is not correct "The law banning conversion therapy has only passed the first reading out of three required, and was not raised up for a vote since then. In 2022 health minister Nitzan Horowitz signed on an executive degree banning the practice of conversion therapy by medical professionals (psychologists, doctors etc.) However, the decree can not be used to extend the ban on other figures, such as rabbis, who engage in this activity. • Status is not correct "the law has not passed yet (https://main.knesset.gov.il/Activity/Legislation/Laws/Pages/LawBill.aspx?t=lawsuggestionssearch&lawitemid=2085868), the article only mention the law passing in first reading, which is true, but that only means the law can now go to an appropriate and a second and third votes, and only then, assuming it has enough votes in favor of it, itll become a law. There is a weak de-facto ban on conversion therapy, and the official view of the ministry of health is against conversion therapy, but it is unfortunately still not illegal or banned."
  • Other "Ban not being enforced"
  • Newer law has been passed "The law didnt pass completely in 2020 (In order to pass a law in Israel you need to approve it in 3 "readings", the law passed only on first reading). BUT - In 2022 the health minster and the israeli health office declared that disciplinary sanctions will be imposed on professionals Declared that disciplinary sanctions will be imposed on professionals who perform such "treatment".
