In 2016 and 2017, AmericasBarometer surveyed people in North and South America about a range of topics, including same-sex marriage. Participants were asked to rank their answer on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "strongly disapprove" and 10 being "strongly approve." Equaldex categories all responses from 1-5 as "disapprove" and all responses from 6-10 as "approve."
